If it's a mic with a USB connector just make sure it is properly connected to the USB socket (you will not use the pink microphone in this case). Older MacBooks have two separate jacks for audio input and headphones. 'Line in' audio expects an amplified audio source as input, such as a microphone attached to an external amplifier, or an iPod output through a stereo cable with a mini-plug on each end. Your headphone mic is probably not amplified.


This screen capture shows a (blue dot) peak audio indicator with a (mono) amplified mic as input.

If you have an unamplified mic, you likely won't get ANY sound indication from Line In, even tapping directly on the mic.

Hello Carlos,

From your description, since you mentioned that the microphone doesn't work in both internal Mac and any external headset, this is more likely related to your Mac settings. Please make sure Teams has permission to use the microphone. You can go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy > under the Privacy tab > Microphone and check if Teams has the permission.

If yes, you can try unchecking it and reboot your Mac, then enable it to see if it can help.

If the problem persists, I would suggest you reinstall Teams and check the results. Besides, may I know if this problem happens to all callings and meetings in Teams?
